The Österreichische Traditionsweingüter (ÖTW) announced the founding of an association in the Weinviertel region at the VieVinum in Vienna. It comprises 13 wineries. Stefan Tscheppe, who works as estate manager of the winery of the Prince of Liechtenstein, was appointed chairman. One of the ÖTW's first projects in the Weinviertel region, which has around 13,850 hectares of vineyards, was the classification of "Erste Lagen", explained those responsible at a press conference.
This brings the number of ÖTW members to 90. They currently cultivate 109 Erste Lage vineyards classified by the ÖTW. Two years ago, it was announced that the foundation of the ÖTW association in the Weinviertel was being prepared.
The wineries Dürnberg, Ebner-Ebenauer, Ingrid Groiss, Gruber Röschitz, Gschweicher, Julius Klein, Hofkellerei Fürst von Liechtenstein, Gerhard J. Lobner, Prechtl, Seher, Setzer, Taubenschuss and Zull belong to the ÖTW Weinviertel.
