The damage to viticulture in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast after the severe weather on Monday is only localized. Although Castagneto Carducci has not seen such intense rainfall in nearly 100 years, only a few wineries have been severely affected, including Campo alla Sughera, Ca'Marcanda*****, and Guado al Melo. Michele Scienza from Guado al Melo shared on social media that 80 percent of the harvest has been gathered. Although around four hectares of his vineyards were partially completely destroyed, the winery itself was only minimally affected.

The president of the DOC Bolgheri Consortium, Albiera Antinori, stated in an official statement that the harvest is essentially completed and safely stored in the cellars. With the exception of a few producers, the damages are minimal. She warned against portraying the situation as overly dramatic for the entire region.
