Over 300 bottles of Grand Cru Burgundy were stolen on the night of September 16 at the Mongeard-Mugneret winery in Vosne-Romanée. The four burglars were apparently well-organized and specifically searched for certain wooden crates, as seen on surveillance cameras. They had previously broken down the door to the storage area using a car as a battering ram. In four minutes, they stole 318 bottles worth more than 100,000 Euros, which were intended for export to the USA.

The Mongeard-Mugneret winery produces wines from some of the most prestigious appellations in Burgundy, including Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru, and Vosne-Romanée Suchots. Although the building was equipped with an alarm system, it was not activated for reasons that remain unclear. The perpetrators are still at large.
