A TikTok video that allegedly shows four bottles of Petrus 2006 being poured into a Sangria went viral on the social media platform. The video "The Most Expensive Sangria in the World" was posted from the restaurant La Guérite on the island of Sainte-Marguerite off the coast of Cannes. When asked how the Sangria tasted, the video creator replied, "Actually really good!"

Petrus 2006 costs between 4,000 and 5,000 euros per bottle. The video producer assured that the wines were real. However, it is not shown how the bottles are opened, only how they are poured into the Sangria mixture. So it could also be empty Petrus bottles refilled with cheap wine to create excitement.

Some commentators saw the action as a kind of artwork. However, the majority reacted negatively. One user wrote: "Why do that with Petrus? You can't even taste it." Another said: "A proof that money doesn't buy taste (or appreciation). Stupidity at its best." The president of the French Sommelier Union, Philippe Faure-Brac, said: "Drinking a Petrus this way is like using a Picasso or a van Gogh to start a fire."
