The frequently award-winning Schützenhof winery on the Eisenberg in southern Burgenland (Austria) is for sale. The modern winery, other buildings, all equipment and five hectares of certified organic vineyards are currently being offered at a price of 3.45 million euros. The winery was awarded the Architecture Prize of Burgenland in 2005 and has capacity for an annual production of up to 150,000 bottles.

Still-owner Markus Faulhammer, however, does not want to give up the family tradition, which has existed since 1816, but to continue it on a smaller scale. As he announced on social media, he does not want to exhaust the technical possibilities and growth potential offered by the winery, but rather concentrate on his passion of winemaking on two to three hectares of vineyards in the region. He also wants to spend more time with his wife and two children, he says. "As a small wine grower, I want to focus on the essentials again - namely on the wine," Faulhammer wrote.

He assures the buyer, who can start wine production immediately, of his complete know-how as well as comprehensive support until after the next harvest.
