Col Solare

The Tuscan family business Marchesi Antinori is taking over the Col Solare vineyard in the US state of Washington in full from Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. The two companies founded Col Solare ("shining hill") around 30 years ago as a joint venture to produce a high-quality Cabernet Sauvignon in the Red Mountains terroir. A separate winery was built for this purpose in 2007. It was the first international collaboration in Washington.

In 2023, Antinori took over the Napa top winery Stag's Leap Wine Cellars from the Ste. Michelle Wine Estates group, which has been on a strict austerity programme since the takeover by an investment fund.

"We believe in these exceptional wine regions and I must thank Ste. Michelle Wine Estates for our co-operation," said Piero Antinori in a statement.
