The so-called "last treasures" from the private cellar of the Avery wine merchant family from Bristol fetched over three million euros at Christie's auction house. The top lots from Bordeaux included an original wooden box containing twelve bottles of Petrus 1990 (44,300 euros), a magnum bottle of Château Latour 1961 (30,000 euros) and a magnum of Château Margaux 1929 for 11,000 euros. They all far exceeded their estimates.

Among the similarly upgraded Burgundy wines were two bottles of Clos de Tart Grand Cru 1945 for 51,700 euros (estimate: 3,500 euros) and a magnum of Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, Musigny Grand Cru 1947 for 28,000 euros (estimate: 9,500 euros).

From California's Napa Valley, two six-bottle cases of Heitz Cellar Martha's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 1974 were sold for 26,600 euros each (estimate: 11,800 euros), six bottles of Joseph Phelps Insignia 1975 for 6,200 euros and three bottles of Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford 1955 for 4,700 euros.

This auction was a follow-up to a similar Christie's auction of wines from the Avery family collection in 2016.
