Badischer Winzerkeller

Badischer Winzerkeller has presented its 2023 annual report. With a turnover of just over 40 million euros, Baden's largest winery cooperative achieved a slight increase compared to the previous year (around 38 million euros). Average revenue also increased from €2.67 per litre to €2.86 per litre. This positive development is primarily due to sales in the specialised trade and discount stores. Over 80 per cent of revenue is generated in food retail and discount stores. The export share is still less than one per cent of total sales.

"With this annual report, we can speak of slight growth. The basis for this was optimised thinking and action from the winegrower to the wine shelf. We have invested in sales and marketing and established innovations in our product range and technology," says the winery's Management Board.

Those responsible are planning to confirm the result in the future. "We have clarified our role in the market and are focussing on this. We are not a small winery with many wines in small quantities. We want to offer larger quantities in good quality for discounters, but also increasingly for food retailers, specialist retailers and the catering trade," explained CEO André Weltz.

He wants to "further reduce the range and focus on branded wines". "Our Martin Schongauer brand wines, our most successful wine line, increased sales by seven per cent to over one million bottles in the course of 2023. Gosch wines are also performing well, and the innovative three-litre bag-in-box has been on the market since April 2024. We also have new non-alcoholic wines," said André Weltz about the 2024 strategies.
