According to a study by the US market research institute bw166, which specialises in alcoholic beverages, the sales volume of rosé in the USA increased by 1433 percent from 2010 to 2020. The study shows that in 2010, the sales volume of rosé wine in the USA reached just under 150,000 cases (nine litres) with a price starting at 7 dollars. By the end of 2020, however, sales had risen to over 2.3 million cases. This enormous growth was led primarily by wines from France, California as well as Italy. The curve for the import of wines between 2010 and 2020 was similarly steep: According to market studies by other institutes, a total of about 936,000 cases of rosé were imported into the USA in 2010. By 2019, this figure had risen to 6.5 million, but fell to around 4.5 million cases in 2020 due to tariffs and the impact of the Covid crisis. Again, France is clearly in the lead as the number one producer of imported rosé, followed by Italy.
