On 6 and 7 June, Christie's auction house is organising an auction of legendary bottles from the cellar of the long-established Bristol wine merchant Avery. These include rare bottles such as Château d'Yquem from the 1921 vintage, as well as other rarities such as Château Lafleur 1971 and Romanée-Conti 1969, from a collection that has been built up over two centuries by different generations of the Avery family. The owners have now decided to release their "wine treasures".

The single bottle of Château d'Yquem 1921 has an estimated value of between 2,330 and 4,660 euros.

Other lots in the upcoming auction are:

"This is one of the largest wine collections in the world, assembled by one of the leading families in the wine trade. It is an encyclopaedic collection of rare wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the New World. Many of these wines will never be auctioned again," said a spokesman for the auction house.

Christie's added that the sale was a continuation of the 2016 auction of wines from the Avery family collection. Total sales at that auction then totalled over 2.4 million euros.
