Château Léoville Las Cases***** is the first very prominent Bordeaux winery to publish the price of its 2023 vintage today. German merchants are offering it for around 195 euros per 0.75-litre bottle including tax. This is 40 per cent less than for the 2022 vintage, which was very highly rated a year ago and is currently on sale for around 350 euros.

According to the Liv-Ex trading platform, the retail price of Las Cases is €138, which is on a par with the 2019 vintage. The sale of this vintage coincided with the first phase of the pandemic. Due to the economic uncertainty, it was offered at significantly more favourable conditions. Château Léoville Las Cases from Saint-Julien, which is classified as a Deuxième Cru and whose quality is often rated at the level of the Premier Crus, is thus following the recommendations of the trade and market analysts. They predicted that the Bordeaux En Primeur campaign for the 2023s could only be a success if prices were to fall by at least 30 per cent compared to 2022. This is generally seen as a signal for the further price development of the 2023 Bordeaux.
