A few weeks before the official European Football Championship, the European Football Winegrowers' Championship will take place in Portugal from 22 to 25 May. Eight European teams will compete against each other in the Bairrada region in the north-west of the country. In addition to the sporting competition, the "UENFW Vinoeuro 2024" celebrates the love of wine. Each team presents wines from its region and thus becomes an ambassador for its country.
The German national winegrowers' football team (Weinelf) will be coached by Erich Rutemöller. They will also be supported on the pitch by former Bundesliga player Alexandre da Silva "Chiquinho". The complete European Championship squad can be found on the Weinelf website.
The Weinelf will face the Czech Republic in their first match on 22 May, with the final taking place on 25 May. In 2014, the Weinelf brought the trophy to Germany.
