One of the largest wine estates in Provence, Château Romanin, has been sold to a pair of investors from the USA. This was reported by La Revue du Vin de France (LARVF). The estate covers 250 hectares, including 57 hectares of vineyards and four hectares of olives. Its history dates back to the 13th century. It has been farmed biodynamically according to Demeter guidelines since 1988. In 2006, it was bought by the then owners of Château Montrose in Saint-Estèphe in Bordeaux, Jean-Louis and Anne-Marie Charmolüe. After their death, their daughter Brigitte San Quirce managed it. Negotiations had been ongoing for over a year.

The identity of the buyers has now been revealed: They are Carolyn and Stan Sheetz. Carolyn Sheetz's family is the founder and owner of one of the largest coffee and convenience store chains in the USA with 600 branches. According to the LARVF report, the couple had been planning to buy a vineyard in the area for some time. According to the report, they paid around 38 million euros for Romanin with its cathedral-like cellar built into the rock.
