Lamberto Frescobaldi has been elected the new president of the Italian winegrowers' association Unione Italiana Vini (UIV). The Tuscan entrepreneur, who heads Marchesi Frescobaldi, succeeds Ernesto Abbona (Marchesi di Barolo). He is supported by vice-presidents Chiara Lungarotti from Umbria and Sandro Sartor, CEO of the Ruffino Group. The winegrowers' association Unione Italiana Vini (UIV) has 730 members, represents more than 150,000 winegrowers and over 85 percent of Italian wine sales.

"We will pay special attention to the current issues of the industry, both at national and international level. These are health aspects as well as sustainability, which is too often misused for greenwashing purposes. We also want to give an identity to a large part of Italian wines that do not have a designation of origin", Lamberto Frescobaldi said after his election.
