Erick De Sousa, one of the pioneers of biodynamic agriculture in Champagne, has died at the age of 59 after a long illness. De Sousa took over the winery founded by his father in the 1950s in 1986 and intensively dealt with the different chalk terroirs on the Côte des Blancs. On the one hand, he produced single-vineyard champagnes, on the other hand, he also made vintage cuvées because, in his opinion, his old vines do not react much to vintage influences.

From 1999 onwards, Erick De Sousa gradually converted the winery to biodynamic cultivation and thus became a pioneer of this method in the region. His children Charlotte, Julie and Valentin already worked in the winery and will continue their father's work.
