The organisers of Vinexpo Paris, which starts on 14 February, expect only about 20,000 visitors. That is almost one third less than in 2020. Nevertheless, many representatives of the French wine industry are in favour of opening the fair. According to them, the Vinexpo is a good opportunity to present their products to future and potential customers after a break of two years. On the other hand, wine traders from Bordeaux and Burgundy had demanded a postponement of the date or price reductions of the wineries.

Rodolophe Lameyse, managing director of the organiser Vinexposium, emphasises that pre-registrations of visitors had increased strongly in January. About 65 percent come from France, but international participants will also be strongly represented, above all from the Netherlands, Belgium, USA, Great Britain and Canada. Vinexpo Paris is the first major international wine fair to open after the Covid-19 pandemic.
