The Spanish Guardia Civil has arrested a woman suspected of emptying wine worth 2.5 million euros from the tanks at the Cepa 21 winery onto the floor (wein.plus reported). According to media reports, she has been released on bail. Footage from a winery surveillance camera taken on 18 February shows a person opening the valves of five stainless steel tanks in the early morning, causing 60,000 litres of wine to spill onto the floor of the winery. As these were Cepa 21's two most expensive wines, it was immediately suspected that the person knew their way around the winery. As nothing was stolen or damaged, it was obviously just a case of causing damage. According to the initial findings of the investigation, the woman may have been trying to take revenge on her former employer for her dismissal.
