The wineries of the Canary Islands will receive 1.7 million euros in state subsidies. As reported by the radio station Onda Fuertaventura, 1.48 million euros will be made available to offset the higher logistics costs for wines and materials. An additional 250,000 euros are intended to support marketing abroad. The subsidies are intended to increase the competitiveness of the wines on foreign markets and to compensate for the disadvantage of the long distance from the Canary Islands to continental Europe. The subsidies apply exclusively to appellation wines produced in the Canary Islands.
