In France, a son and his father were sentenced to prison and fined for exploiting wine workers. The two ran the Vitiprest winegrowing services company in Entre-deux-Mers and lured Moroccan workers to Bordeaux under false promises. Among other things, they promised the Moroccans proper employment contracts for three years, a salary of 1,600 euros per month and a flat. In return, the workers initially had to pay almost 10,000 euros in advance.

In total, 14 people were brought to France. There they had to work in the vineyard from around 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. without a break and then on a construction site. In their accommodation, they had no hot water, lockable cupboards and only faulty electrical installations. When the workers were dismissed after just three months, the case came to light. They had only received between 200 and 700 euros per month. They had been deducted 200 euros each for their accommodation. The father and son had been in custody since May 2024 and have now been sentenced by the court in Bordeaux for "violation of human dignity". They will not be allowed to run a farm for the next five years.
