The prices of vineyards and wineries in France will rise significantly in 2017. This was announced by the French real estate specialists of Terres d'Europe-Scafr in Paris. According to the figures, 9,460 transactions covering an area of 16,900 ha were concluded during this period. This represents an increase of 2.8 percent in purchases and sales and 7.9 percent more area. This is the highest figure in the last 25 years. 1.3 billion euros were achieved - an increase of 59.9 percent compared to 2016. The prices achieved by renowned farms also rose dramatically: The ten most expensive transactions thus represent one third of total turnover.

On average, one hectare of AOC vineyard achieved a price of just under 144,000 euros last year, an increase of 2.3 percent compared to 2016, with Alsace achieving the highest increases of 7.2 percent, the Rhone Valley 5.5 percent and Burgundy 4.9 percent. Champagne is at the bottom of the league with prices only 0.8 percent higher. Here the average price per hectare is only 69,300 euros.
