Domaines William Févre

Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR), owner of Château Lafite Rothschild (Pauillac), is taking over Domaine William Fèvre **** in Chablis (Burgundy). The seller is Artémis Domaines, which belongs to the French billionaire Pinault family. The William Fèvre estate has 72 hectares of vineyards, of which 15.9 hectares are classified as Premier Cru and 15.2 hectares as Grand Cru.

Artémis Domaines, which includes Château Latour, only merged its vineyards with those of the Henriot family in September 2022. In addition to Maison Henriot in Champagne, this transaction also brought the Burgundy house Bouchard Père et Fils *** and Beaux-Frères in Oregon into the group. Artémis had already previously acquired a stake in Champagne Jacquesson. At the beginning of 2023, the group decided to concentrate its activities in Champagne on Jacquesson and sold Champagne Henriot. The sale of William Fèvre has been under negotiation with DBR since July 2023. With the Châteaux Duhart-Milon (Pauillac), L'Evangile (Pomerol), Paradis Casseuil (Entre-Deux Mers), Rieussec (Sauternes) and Domaine d'Aussières (Corbières) as well as wineries in Chile (Viña Los Vascos), Argentina (Bodegas CARO) and China (Domaine de Long Dai), the DBR Group, which is strongly focused on red wines, is thus expanding its portfolio to include a renowned white wine estate. According to Saskia de Rothschild, Managing Director of DBR, "the precise but less interventionist approach to ecological and environmentally friendly viticulture" fits in with its values and long-term goals.

The Pinault and Henriot-Larouzière families retain the Château Latour (Pauillac), the Burgundy vineyards Clos de Tart (Morey-Saint-Denis), Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils (Beaune), Domaine d'Eugénie (Vosne-Romanée), Château Grillet in the Rhône Valley, Domaine Eisele Vineyard (Napa Valley) and Beaux-Frères (Oregon) in the Artémis Domaines group.
