Kanonkop Estate
Image header

The well-known South African winery Kanonkop will lose its long-standing cellar master Abrie Beeslar after the harvest. Although he will continue to advise Kanonkop, after 23 years he will be focussing on his own winery, Beeslar Wines.

Since the first vintage in 1973, Kanonkop Estate has developed into one of the best wine estates in South Africa and has become particularly well known for its Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon. Beeslar Wines also wants to concentrate on Pinotage. Despite many international awards, Beeslar cites its greatest success as having increased production from 300,000 to 3 million bottles per year, while at the same time improving quality.

Although owner Johan Krige regrets the departure of Abrie Beeslar, he emphasises that "nothing will change" at the winery. A team that has been working together there for several years will take over Beeslar's tasks.
