Wine writer and expert Jancis Robinson MW (Master of Wine) receives the "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW). Robinson is one of the best-known and most influential personalities in the world of wine. She has published standard works such as 'The Oxford Companion to Wine' and 'Wine Grapes' and regularly publishes columns and tasting notes. The editor-in-chief of the trade magazine 'The Drinks Business', Patrick Schmitt MW, said at the award ceremony in Paris: "I can't think of anyone who has done more to educate wine connoisseurs than Jancis".

Jancis Robinson was the first person outside the wine trade to achieve the title Master of Wine (MW) in 1984. She has written more than 20 books, created TV series and founded the website jancisrobinson.com. In 2003, she was honoured by Queen Elizabeth II with the Order of the British Empire (OBE). She also advises those responsible for the royal family's wine cellar.

Previous recipients of the IMW Lifetime Achievement Award include Robert Mondavi, Marchese Piero Antinori, Jean-Michel Cazes, Baroness Phillipine de Rothschild, Hugh Johnson OBE, Miguel A. Torres, Paul Symington and the Masters of Wine Olivier Humbrecht and Mark Savage.

Robinson, who was unable to accept the award in person, thanked her staff and family in a statement and said she was "surprised and delighted to be honoured by my peers and to join such a line-up of wine stars, many of whom are old friends. Here's to many more women in wine being fully recognised!"
