Under the motto "Grapes for the future", the German Wine Institute (DWI) will be presenting wines made specifically from Piwi grape varieties at ProWein. A total of 20 white, red and rosé wines will be available for tasting and will also be presented in moderated tastings on each day of the fair.

Wines from the north of Germany, which are being produced more and more frequently, will also have their own focus. A selection of these wines, most of which are also made from Piwi grape varieties, will be presented for the first time on Sunday and Tuesday at 3.30 pm.

According to DWI Managing Director Monika Reule, interest in and acceptance of innovative grape varieties that require less plant protection has grown significantly and will continue to increase. For this reason, the DWI wants to show trade visitors the range of flavours and quality potential of the new varieties, in the breeding of which Germany is a leader.

The "Best of Piwi 2024" awards will be presented at the DWI stand in Hall 1 at 11 a.m. on Sunday. ProWein will take place from 10 to 12 March 2024.
