Maison & Domaines Les Alexandrins in Tain-l'Hermitage on the northern Rhône has purchased Domaine Michelas St Jemms in Mercurol. The special feature of the 38-hectare family vineyard is the vines in the Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Cornas and Saint-Joseph appellations, which are up to 60 years old and have been cultivated organically since 2022.
Nicolas Jaboulet from Maison & Domaines Les Alexandrins emphasised in a statement that the vines "have been perfectly cared for with precise, meticulous work. We share the same values."
Maison & Domaines Les Alexandrins includes the three wine brands Domaines Les Alexandrins, Maison Les Alexandrins and Domaine de Breseyme. With the acquisition of Michelas St Jemms, the group is strengthening its portfolio of old Syrah vines, which are over 70 years old in Crozes-Hermitage and over 90 years old in Tournon for the Saint-Joseph. The purchase price is not known.
