In France, every third bottle of wine is consumed as rosé. This is shown in the report of the "World Rosé Observatory" for the years 2020 and 2021. According to this, 23 million hectolitres of rosé wine were produced worldwide in 2020. France, with a share of 35 percent, and Spain account for more than half of this amount. Countries like Chile, New Zealand, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria recorded a production growth of more than 50 percent in the past ten years.

Worldwide, only one in ten bottles of wine consumed is a rosé, in France it is one in three. Nowhere else is the importance of rosé so strong, according to the study authors. Spain exports more than twice as much as France. In value, French rosés dominate the world market with a share of 45 percent.
