The Argentinian football star Lionel Messi - reigning world champion and eight times honoured as the best footballer in the world - has presented his new wine line. Before Christmas, Messi presented a range of Italian wines together with Geneva-based Marco Maci and his company 'MM Winemaker'. The basis is formed by a Puglia IGT Negroamaro Rosé, a Prosecco, several Veneto IGT red and white wines as well as a Grillo and a Nero d'Avola from Sicily. These wines, which cost between 32 and 39 euros, are labelled 'Lionel GOAT 10 Collection'. The abbreviation GOAT, which comes from American sport, means "Greatest Of All Times". The number 10 is Messi's shirt number.

In the Lionel Titanium Collection, a Primitivo from Puglia and a Syrah from Sicily are offered at 110 euros each. The Aglianico del Sannio and the Taurasi DOCG from the Lionel Diamond Collection cost 495 euros per bottle.

Messi had previously worked with the Argentinian winery Casa Bianchi. There he brought out a Torrontes and two Malbec under the L10 label, which are sold for between 30 and 36 euros. The proceeds from these wines go to the Leo Messi Foundation, which supports disadvantaged and seriously ill children and young people.
