On 26 September, the first edition of the wein.campus of the Hamburg agency ff.k Public Relations, which specialises in wine communication, took place in Cologne. Organisers, exhibitors and the more than 60 trade visitors drew a positive balance.

"Further education is the trump card. The wein.campus showed that quite clearly. From young employees to established professionals from the fields of gastronomy, trade and further education, the guests came to Cologne. In my opinion, an absolute success concept", comments Peer F. Holm, President of the Sommelier Union Deutschland and co-organiser of the event.

The new event format by ff.k Public Relations consisted of the wein.campus MasterClasses and the wein.campus marketplace with tasting and information stands. 65 trade visitors took advantage of the day to learn more about Georgia, Switzerland, Côtes du Rhône and the Italian wine producer Ruffino. Renowned experts such as Yvonne Heistermann, Sebastian Bordthäuser and Thomas Curtius MW led the participants through the individual MasterClasses alongside Peer F. Holm.

The experts from trade, gastronomy and the trade media were able to deepen their knowledge between the four masterclasses at the wein.campus marketplace. There, the wine countries Georgia and Switzerland, the growing regions Côtes du Rhône and Prosecco DOC as well as the top brand Ruffino from Italy presented themselves with a diverse, educational tasting offer and were available for questions and stimulating discussions.

Torsten Kiss, sales coordinator at wine wholesaler Schlumberger, summarised his impressions from the visitors' point of view: "Special MasterClasses, high-end speakers and an intensive exchange among colleagues in the free tasting zone: the wein.campus was intensive and almost too short for the great programme."

The organisers are also convinced that a promising concept has been implemented here: "We are thrilled that the first wein.campus by ff.k has met with such a positive response! The idea of creating synergies in terms of time and content by bundling our clients' appearances on one day worked wonderfully: We were able to offer the professional audience top-class MasterClasses and personal consultations at the stands of our marketplace. A concept that makes you want more," sums up Meike Frers, Managing Director of ff.k Public Relations.
