During a break-in at the Château du Viviers in Tonnerre, north-east of Chablis, five pallets containing 1,400 bottles of wine were stolen from a warehouse. Most of the wines were appellation wines from 2020, 2021 and 2022. One pallet contained magnum bottles and cases of biodynamically produced wines. According to the owner Arnould Lefébure, the damage amounts to around 50,000 euros. He explained that all the bottles were numbered and waxed by hand, which could make them easier to identify. So far, there is no trace of the perpetrators.
Only recently, a man was arrested in Burgundy who is said to have stolen wines worth more than half a million euros over 15 years.
