The Rheingau winery Altenkirch in Lorch is taken over by the renowned winery Georg Breuer in Rüdesheim with about 15 ha of vineyards. This is reported by the "Weinwirtschaft". This means that Georg Breuer's vineyard area will grow to about 50 hectares.

Franziska Breuer-Hadwiger, the owner of the estate in Lorch, together with her son Jan Frederik Hadwiger, will hand over the vineyards, 80 percent planted with Riesling, to Theresa Breuer, who will run the Georg Breuer Winery in Rüdesheim, on January 1, 2019. It is a business within the family: Franziska Breuer-Hadwiger's father and Theresa Breuer's grandfather were brothers.

The Altenkirch brand is to remain and the winery team around managing director Jasper Bruysten will continue to run the business. From 2019, however, the harvest from the Lorch vineyards in Rüdesheim will be vinified. The slate layers from Lorch are a special feature of the quartzite-dominated Rheingau and should ensure greater stylistic diversity at Georg Breuer.
