Vine blossom is in full swing in the German wine-growing regions. This means that the flowering period is around one week ahead of the long-term average. In warm locations or with early-ripening grape varieties, flowering is often already complete. In cooler locations and regions, it takes a little longer than in previous years due to the low night-time temperatures.

On vines that have been damaged by frost, however, it will take even longer for the second budding to form flowers, if it happens at all. This is hardly to be expected for Riesling, for example. According to the current state of development, the main harvest can be expected between the beginning and middle of September, depending on the location and variety.
