The French start-up Moderate, which produces and sells de-alcoholized wines, has raised three million euros in fresh capital. Last year, the company, founded in 2020 by Sébastien Thomas (right in the picture) and Fabien Marchand-Cassagne, received 1.5 million euros from investors.
Moderate aims to quadruple the number of 100,000 bottles sold in 2023 and is targeting double-digit growth in the long term. By 2026, the company expects a revenue of ten million euros. To achieve this, it positions its wines with the slogan "Premium Access." Sébastien Thomas stated that a survey from 2023 indicated that a price of nine euros for non-alcoholic wine would be accepted by consumers. Furthermore, he sees Moderate as part of a "transition rather than a complete abstinence from alcohol.".
Investors include the Andromède holding of the Hériard-Dubreuil family (Oeneo, Rémy Cointreau), the cooperative group Vivadour, the investment fund Eutopia, and the business angels of Xinomavro Ventures.
