Alessandro Campatelli, director of the Chianti Classico winery Riecine****, has taken over the operation from owner Lana Frank. According to a press release, Campatelli purchased the winery in July 2024 through a "leveraged buyout" and is now the sole owner.

Riecine was founded in 1971 by Briton John Dunkley and his wife Palmina Abbagnano in Gaiole in Chianti. In 2011, Lana Frank took over the 19-hectare operation. Born in Poggibonsi in 1984, Campatelli has been working as director since 2015 and as oenologist for the winery since 2016. After graduating in oenology from the University of Pisa, Campatelli initially went to California. Back in Tuscany, he started as an oenologist at the Tuscan winery Monteverro, before working alongside Andrea Franchetti for Tenuta di Trinoro in Val d'Orcia.

"I arrived in Riecine in 2015 and immediately felt at home. Having the chance to carry on the legacy of John and Palmina makes me very happy. The team at Riecine remains unchanged and we will continue the operation with the same philosophy," says Alessandro Campatelli.
