With 627.5 million bottles produced, Prosecco DOC is the most consumed sparkling wine in the world. According to a statement by the Prosecco Consortium, Prosecco DOC exceeded the 600 million bottle mark for the first time in 2021. The production had increased by 25.4 percent. The companies of the consortium produced a total of 627.5 million bottles, of which 71.5 million bottles were filled with Prosecco Rosé. This is only allowed to be produced since 2020. The president of the consortium, Stefano Zanette, was especially happy about the increased sales abroad - and about the increased prices. The value of a bottle of Prosecco DOC is currently more than four percent higher than in the previous year. Exports had increased by 30 per cent in the first three quarters of 2021.
