Following the announced retirement of Axel Heinz as director of Ornellaia *****, Olga Fusari, the head oenologist, is also leaving the winery in October. Both joined the Ornellaia team in 2005, Fusari was responsible for winemaking since 2016.

While Axel Heinz is moving to Bordeaux to Château Lascombes ***, Fusari will stay in Bolgheri and will lead Ruffino 's new project. The Ruffino group, which is partly owned by the US group Constellation Brands, announced the purchase of a total of 15 hectares of vineyards in the region in March. It wants to build a modern winery with a visitor centre, which, according to its own statements, is to establish "Ruffino Estates as the ultimate top Tuscan winery". All of its own vineyards are to be certified organic, and all purchased grapes are to have at least a sustainability seal. The first wines are planned for 2025.

According to the British Decanter magazine, the names Gaia Cinnirella from the sister winery Masseto, Antonio Mori and Davide Bozzon are mentioned as Olga Fusari's successor at Ornellaia. The latter has experience at Frescobaldi's Tenute di Castelgiocondo **** and Luce della Vite **** in Montalcino.
