The French police have arrested a man for stealing 7,000 bottles of Burgundy wines. According to media reports, the man is accused of stealing bottles from various employers in the Beaune region over several years. The 56-year-old was convicted with the help of surveillance cameras that caught him in the act at his last place of work. However, during a search of the suspect's home, many other wines were found that he had presumably also stolen.

According to the newspaper "Le Bien Public", the man is said to have stolen more than 7,000 Burgundy wines over a period of 15 years. The total value of the loot is estimated at over 500,000 euros. Prosecutor Olivier Caracotch from Dijon told the AFP news agency that the man is not believed to have sold any of the allegedly stolen bottles. According to the report, the case will be heard in court this summer.
