The Michelin Guide 2022 for Germany awards 327 restaurants with stars. This number is a new record. Nine restaurants can adorn themselves with the highest rating of three stars, including Thomas Schanz's "schanz.restaurant" in Piesport on the Moselle for the first time. Eight restaurants were newly rated with two stars and 31 new restaurants with one star. This means that 272 establishments in Germany now bear a Michelin star. Joachim Wissler's Vendôme in Bergisch Gladbach, on the other hand, was unable to defend its third star and was rated with two stars this time.
A total of 61 restaurants, eleven of them new, were awarded a "Green Star" for particularly environmentally friendly and resource-conserving business management.
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Guide MICHELIN, emphasised in a statement "the impressive consistency of quality, commitment and resilience of German gastronomy".
