The export of German rosé has developed surprisingly positively in recent years. As reported by the German Wine Institute (DWI), rosé wine sales in the USA have risen by around 118 per cent from a low level between 2015 and 2020. America is the most important customer state for German wines, and "a clear trend towards higher-quality rosé wines can be observed". Similar to Germany, rosés are "no longer perceived only as summer wines", but are increasingly being opened throughout the year.

In Great Britain, rosé wine sales increased by 22 per cent last year, according to the Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA). The DWI's "Wines of Germany" agencies also report significant increases in rosé wine sales from the Nordic countries. In Norway, sales grew by a total of 13 percent in 2021 compared to 2020 - and rosés from Germany increased disproportionately by 26 percent. Exports to Sweden rose by 27 percent between 2015 and 2020, and in Denmark sales tripled in the same five-year period. In Finland, where wine lovers have only recently discovered rosés, sales grew by 10 percent last year.

In the Netherlands, German rosés have already been established in the trade for some time and are only growing moderately in sales. In 2020, they accounted for 13 percent of the total wine market there, which is only a slight increase of two percentage points compared to 2017.
