The new German Wine Queen is called Eva Lanzerath and comes from the Ahr. As German Wine Princesses Anna-Maria Löffler from the Palatinate and Eva Müller from Rheinhessen complete the trio of German Wine Majesties 2020/2021.
At the end of the election evening on 25 September, at 10.30 p.m., the managing director of the German Wine Institute (DWI), Monika Reule, announced the decision of the more than 70-member expert jury in the Saalbau in Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Under the applause of the jury and the corona-conditioned only 30 spectators in the hall, the newly elected wine majesties crowned themselves because of the valid distance rules.
"Already as a child I dreamed of being on the big stage for the election of the German Wine Queen. We will have a great year and together we will carry our passion for German wines into the world", said Eva Lanzerath after her election. After eight years, the 22-year-old prospective primary school teacher won the highest German wine crown again at the Ahr.
As the 72nd German Wine Queen, Eva Lanzerath will be on tour for one year on behalf of the DWI and, as ambassador for German wine, will normally attend around 200 events at home and abroad. "In this exceptional year we have once again a very talented German Wine Queen and two extremely competent German Wine Princesses, to whom we wish as many missions as possible where they can present their great expertise," explained DWI Managing Director Reule.
At 10.10 pm the jury selected the future Majesty's Trio from the applicants with Eva Lanzerath, Anna-Maria Löffler and Eva Müller. Which of them would become the German Wine Queen was decided with the last two tasks. The task was to win over the jurors, first in a round of discussions and then with a personal speech on the topic "Where will I stand in ten years". Eva Lanzerath convinced the jury with a rousing speech, after she had inspired the expert jury in the show with her naturalness, but also with esprit and competence
