The election of the German Wine Queen will take place again in 2021 in accordance with the Corona rules and will also be broadcast on TV. Whereas only seven candidates took part in 2020, this time the candidates from eleven wine-growing regions - with the exception of Franconia and Saxony - will fight for the crown. The preliminary decision in Neustadt an der Weinstraße will be broadcast live on Saturday, 18 September, from 4 p.m. on SWR.de and can be seen the following day from 2:25 p.m. on SWR. The focus of the competition is on technical questions. Viewers will see six of the eleven candidates in the final on Friday, 24 September. SWR will broadcast the show live from Neustadt starting at 8:15 pm. The programmes and portraits of the candidates will be available in the ARD Mediathek after the broadcast.

Due to the Corona pandemic, only about 350 viewers are allowed to watch the preliminary round. The approximately 70 jurors will follow the livestream and vote online on which six candidates will reach the final. Competing for the title of "German Wine Queen" are: Heike Knapp (Hessian Bergstrasse), Marie Dillenburger (Middle Rhine), Valerie Gorgus (Rheingau), Sina Erdrich (Baden), Saskia Teucke (Palatinate), Annemarie Triebe (Saale-Unstrut), Henrike Heinicke (Wurttemberg), Andrea Böhm (Rhine-Hesse), Laura Tullius (Nahe), Marie Jostock (Moselle) and Linda Trarbach, who, like the current Wine Queen Eva Lanzerath, comes from the Ahr.
