The collegial help for the vineyards in the Ahr region, which were catastrophically hit by the July floods, is now being coordinated. Representatives of the Ahr Winegrowers' Association, Ahr-Wein e.V., the Rhineland-Nassau Farmers' Association and the association "Der VDP.Adler hilft e.V." are pooling their donation amounts and contributions. According to the VDP, the most urgent measures concern the grape harvest, which is due to take place in a few weeks, in order to bring machines, cellar technology as well as harvesting staff on site in time and to provide sleeping facilities for the helpers in living containers. In the next few weeks, experts want to personally visit every winery in the Ahr region in order to ascertain the extent to which they are affected, their neediness, their insurance coverage and other parameters. After that, the first amounts of money are to be paid out. At the same time, a platform is to be set up to bring together the need for donations in kind and loans with the offers of help. In the long term, there are to be partnerships between individual wineries in the Ahr and sponsoring wineries or localities from all wine-growing regions in order to offer them prospects for the future over the coming years. The fundraising campaigns continue.
