The online wine search engine Wine-Searcher has determined the average prices of the ten most expensive Pinot Noirs in the world. Unsurprisingly, all the top places go to wines from Burgundy. With an average price of 28,182 euros, Domaine Leroy Musigny is the most expensive Pinot Noir ever. It is followed by the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti Grand Cru at 18,782 euros and the Domaine Roumier Musigny Grand Cru at 13,423 euros per 0.75-litre bottle. The following seven places go to Domaine Leroy or its subsidiary Domaine d'Auvenay.

The Musigny of Domaine Leroy still cost 14,721 euros on 31 July 2020 and had already risen to almost 30,000 euros in between. Five years ago, its average price was still 4,942 euros; at that time, the Romanée-Conti Grand Cru led the ranking with 11,523 euros. Within one year, the prices for the ten most expensive Pinot Noirs have risen by 40.5 per cent, and according to Wine-Searcher, an end to the boom does not seem to be in sight.
