Experts of the Service Center for Rural Areas (DLR) Mosel called on vintners during the digital Mosel viniculture days to stop or at least reduce the application of herbicides like glyphosate. The active substances would damage the environment as well as the image of the wineries, a DLR spokesman said. This is because the population would no longer accept the use of glyphosate, for instance. Nevertheless, many vintners in the growing area would use the controversial plant protection agents at least once a year. Soil cultivation with machines could be a reasonable alternative. This way, the regional vintners would demonstrate that they value their cultural landscape at the Moselle.

The Mosel Winegrowers' Days are one of the most important winegrowers' meetings of the year in the winegrowing region.
