Burglars have stolen more than 500 bottles of top wines from the Rheingau Kronenschlösschen hotel in Eltville-Hattenheim. According to a Facebook post of the hotel, Romanée Conti, Petrus, Latour, Lafite, Mouton, Harlan, Cristal, Massetto, Krug and other Grand Cru were stolen. The thieves are said to have targeted and to have even packed only certain vintages. The amount of the damage cannot be estimated yet.
The persons in charge of the hotel are warning traders and collectors against offers from unclear sources. They ask neighbors who noticed something suspicious in the night of January 13 to 14, to contact the hotel at the mail address j.baechstaedt@kronenschloesschen.de. Collectors and dealers who receive suspicious offers are also asked to get back to them.
