According to initial estimates by the Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (CIVB), the frosts of early April "affected between 30 and 50 percent of the vineyards, with the extent of the damage varying from vineyard to vineyard". In addition to the location and the grape varieties, the stage of pruning is also decisive. Some vineyards have suffered only a little, others have been completely damaged and are likely to give no or only very little yield this year. A similar picture is emerging in many other regions of France, Italy and Spain.
