The sisters of the French abbey Abbaye de Jouques in Bouches-du-Rhône are selling their wine for the first time in a campaign together with the online shop Divine Box because of the wine fairs cancelled due to Corona. Wine is vital for the abbey's survival, as it makes up a significant part of the income of the 47 sisters, says a statement from the abbey. The small production is normally sold at a few wine fairs, but these have all been cancelled due to the Covid restrictions. Sister Armel, who is in charge, stressed: "Rosé is not a wine to keep. It should be sold and consumed quickly". Therefore, she accepted the proposal of the online shop specialised in monastic products to sell all 9,000 bottles of the rosé wine "Exsulta" in a promotion until midnight on 26 April. This has attracted a lot of media attention in France: several TV stations, news agencies, daily newspapers and online media have reported on it.
