The Bogle Family Wine Collection winery from California has launched a new line of wines in aluminium bottles. According to the company, the new brand "Element [AL] Wines" is the first line to be bottled in 0.75 litre aluminium bottles. It is "light and infinitely recyclable". Manager Jody Bogle presented the bottles for the first time in Europe at ProWein in Düsseldorf.
In contrast to conventional glass bottles, the Element [AL] bottle does not require a label; the information is printed directly on the bottle. With a weight of 90 grams, the aluminium bottle is around 80 percent lighter than an average glass wine bottle (500 g and more).
"We wanted to find a way to reduce the carbon footprint of traditional wine bottles in a way that still appeals to consumers. Our extensive research shows exceptionally high consumer interest in this ground-breaking aluminium wine bottle. Element [AL] is more than just the introduction of a new wine brand, it's the beginning of a new way of thinking in the wine industry," said Bogle. According to Bogle Family Wine Collection, Element [AL] was developed with nearly three years of research and development. Four wines in the line are available so far: Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Rosé and Pinot Noir.
