The Smart 365 digital platform enables the wine industry to network and simplify trade relations with Italy's wine world. It offers contact with over 200 Italian wineries from various wine-growing regions.

With the extensive "My Wine Italy" campaign, the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) put the spotlight on Italy's wine diversity this autumn. With a Germany-wide specialist trade cooperation and three successful tastings, there were many opportunities for both professionals and end consumers to immerse themselves in the world of Italian wine once again. To build on this seamlessly, the Smart 365 platform now also offers the wine industry suitable options for networking and simplifying trade relations with Italy's wine world.

The high relevance of Italy as one of the most important wine importers in this country was also reflected in the recently concluded "My Wine Italy" campaign. More than 130 participating specialist retail partners throughout Germany focused on the Italian wine world with their own events and tastings as well as attractive special prices as part of the big Italy weeks from mid-October to the beginning of November. The large Italian wine tasting in three cities also offered both trade visitors and private wine lovers a good opportunity to exchange ideas with the 50 winemakers present. In Hamburg, Berlin and Munich, wineries from 12 Italian regions presented more than 250 wines. A total of 500 guests took part in the events, around 70 per cent of whom were trade visitors.

"As part of our 'My Wine Italy' campaign, wines from indigenous grape varieties, exciting new projects and lesser-known, smaller wineries also received a lot of attention. To build on this and offer an easy way to network in the long term and at any time, our Smart 365 platform is now also being launched for the wine industry," says Francesco Alfonsi, Director of the Berlin ITA office. Interested German trading companies can find more than 200 Italian wine producers from various growing regions online, and the number is growing. These include the wineries that presented themselves at the major Italian tastings. With the help of Smart 365, the wineries can be filtered by region and wine type with just one click. New contacts can be made easily and intensified efficiently.

"This platform already worked very successfully for our wine producers during the pandemic when we used it to organise the Meininger Top 100 tasting. Around 100 wineries and 50 selected specialist retailers were able to get to know each other via the platform, taste wines together virtually and initiate successful new business," explains Alfonsi. "Smart 365 brings supply and demand together in one place, saving time and resources. We are firmly convinced that this will significantly promote networking and trade between Germany and Italy in a forward-looking way."
