ProWein in Düsseldorf is announcing extensive innovations in addition to a new look. This is Messe Düsseldorf's response as organiser to the criticism of recent years, which mainly related to high hotel and travel costs. The public transport and aviation strikes that took place at the time of the trade fair caused further displeasure among visitors and exhibitors. According to ProWein officials, they are currently holding individual discussions with many hotel operators in Düsseldorf.

The stand layout in the halls is to be redesigned in order to avoid the impression of emptiness that exhibitors from France, Spain and Italy in particular had expressed. For 2025, ProWein wants to address potential visitors from the USA, Asia, the Benelux countries and Scandinavia even more specifically and accurately. The supporting programme is also to be expanded with masterclasses, tastings and topics such as AI and sustainability.

ProWein is still the largest wine fair in the world, but suffered a significant decline in exhibitors (2024: 5,326 after 6,900 in 2019) and visitors (47,000 compared to 61,500) after the pandemic. High hotel and flight prices as well as public transport strikes in 2023 and 2024 are increasingly cited as obstacles to attending the trade fair. Vinexpo Paris has also developed into a serious competitor. It recorded over 4,000 exhibitors and 41,000 visitors in February.
