In the spa and wine town of Bad Sulza in Weimarer Land (Thuringia), wine can be inhaled in the future. Instead of the usual mixture of salt and water (brine), wine is now filled into the atomiser well of the salt works Louise, reports the German Press Agency (dpa).

The "crazy idea" came up while collecting ideas to connect the themes of salt, brine and wine, an employee of the spa association explained. After being filled, the wine is diluted with water and atomised into a fine mist. When breathing in the saline, it is absorbed into the blood via the mucous membranes, she said.

"There is a pleasant smell and a pleasant taste on the tongue," the employee said, according to dpa. The public premiere of the wine atomisation is planned for 1 July as part of a multi-course menu, the spokeswoman said. A few days ago, the new procedure had already been tested by the German Wine Queen and other wine sovereigns in Bad Sulza.

In order to exclude health risks, however, no one should stay in the atomiser hall for more than ten to fifteen minutes. In the announcement of the premiere, the spa administration also points out that participation in the wine atomisation is only permitted for persons over 18 years of age. In addition, it is not suitable for pregnant women.
